Looking Back

One year ago I could never have guessed that this is where I would be. In my last post, the date of which will attest to the sad fact that I have not been faithful about updating this blog, I mentioned that James was going to visit me. Surprisingly or not so surprisingly that visit turned out to be very important, and at the end of it James and I were engaged. The official date was October 30, 2009 (since it's written here, James should be able to remember). James was surprised to find that I needed 2 WHOLE months to prepare for the wedding, and my mother probably felt like that was too little. Anyway, the next two months were crazy but wonderful. I needed to meet James family, and vice versa. After knowing eachother for six years I can't believe it hadn't happened before that. There were all the other details, such as photo's and planning and registering and it was difficult coordinating things with James in New Jersey and me in Utah. But somehow, with the help of all our families and especially my mother, everything was pulled together in time, James plane made it safely and thankfully the groom was at the ceremony, and the wedding day was fabulous. We were surrounded by all of our favorite people. James and I spent the weekend at a spledid hotel in Salt Lake City, the Grand America, and then flew to New Jersey on Monday. James returned to work on Tuesday. We stayed with a family in the local ward, and on Friday of that week we were able to move into our new base housing. It was a wonderful blessing to be able to move in so quickly. We borrowed a mattress and a couch, and at the end of february our furniture and stuff arrived from Utah safely. We were promptly called as Youth Sunday School teachers within the first few Sundays after arriving. I was also called to serve in the Young Women's program as secretary. James is still training in Air Traffic Control. We are living in the New York Manhattan Temple district and I have already been able to attend several sessions there. My Aunts Valeries and Christine were in New York in February, and then my parents visited at the beggining of March, and my sister Tina came to visit for her Spring Break at the end of March. In april we met up with James' mom and grandma Kate from Wales in New York City and spent a splendid day with them. Since then things have been quiet and even a touch loney at times. I miss the west with so many friends and family. We are not far from Chicago, only 13 hours or so, but with only one car, and James having to work, it isn't a simple trip. Now that I've updated anyone who cares to read this, I can proceed to give more regular updates. I will post some pictures from our last few months.
